featured artist: the wild yonder
the wild yonder is a jewelry line by helena native, kinsey kuhn. kinsey began making jewelry from a young age, and finds joy in creating fun, lightweight designs that can be easily dressed up or down.
when kinsey discovered polymer clay, she was immediately drawn to the versatility of the material. instead of designing earrings based on available beads, she could create any color, shape or design, allowing her creativity to flourish.
the clay is first conditioned, mixed from various colors to form the desired shade, then rolled out into sheets using a pasta maker. shapes are cut and baked in a conventional home oven until the clay hardens. shapes are then sanded, holes are drilled and metal findings are attached.
day to day, kinsey works in education technology in san francisco but spends evenings and weekends on her creative pursuits. she finds that art is the perfect balance to her more analytical work. she can be seen sporting a pair of fun earrings on work zoom calls or while hiking in the mountains.
stop in this month and add a pair of kinsey designs to your jewelry collection!
